Devotional Thought: Fearful and Forgetful

Lately God has been showing me how fearful and forgetful I am. It is so easy to get caught up in the midst of my circumstances and lose sight of who God is. But get this: the God who delivered Israel from slavery and parted the Red Sea is the same God who raised Jesus from the dead; the same God who delivers us from slavery to Satan, sin, and death through the waters of our baptism, and raises us to new life in Christ. If God can do that, surely he can handle whatever life may throw our way! Don’t be afraid, remember what the Lord has done.

“If you should say in your heart, ‘These nations are greater than I; how can I dispossess them?’ you shall not be afraid of them; you shall well remember what the Lord your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt: the great trials which your eyes saw and the signs and the wonders and the mighty hand and the outstretched arm by which the Lord your God brought you out.” Deuteronomy 7:17-19
